My daughter got married!!!

My daughter got married at the church today!

I'm not joking! I do have a daughter - to be more specific, she is my god-daughter!

She is my god-daughter since 2006. Although I didn't have a chance to see her and her husband at the ceremony, I was delighted to be part of her journey for the morning 'pick-up-the-bride' games and emcee at her wedding reception. Through behind the scenes, I saw that she was so bogged down by the details and luckily many good friends helped her out. I can understand from her point-of-view and things become difficult when her husband lives in Toronto when she has to organize the ceremony in Vancouver. It's easy to organize a banquet, but it's relatively harder to organize the ceremony for it is a sacred journey.

I met a poor girl who worked so hard on the night before, and it was also her birthday. She has a heart of gold who does the best for the bride. She is very young and I wonder sometimes how she can handle things without working too hard, or getting discouraged from being afraid to make mistakes! She is truly blessed for she is such a great friend!!

I saw many aunties at the wedding. Sometimes, I got scared from seeing too many aunties. In fact, it was a nice opportunity for them to sit back and relax -- just seeing the youngsters running around and preparing things here and there. I wonder if I would become one of them when I got old - but I'd like to stay YOUNG! ha!

Because I was at the morning games, I was in charge with one of the games to trick the groom and groomsmen. It was the first time ever for me to be a 'sister'! It was kind of interesting as the groomsmen were so eager to get involved in my game - 'candies and socks'!! They were asked to give out one 'smelly' sock to be put out on the rope - as they danced through the limbo, they would have to imagine going through the 'sweet' and 'smelly' events in life. What a kind game for the guys, right?

It was also my first time working with my husband in an event setting! It was very special for us. Although I know that he has a Toastmaster training at work, I never get a real taste of his improvement in giving speeches until weddings this year. Not that only he gave a great speech at our wedding, he was able to lead and guide my part when I felt scared talking in front of the big group (without my cheat sheet) today at our goddaughter's wedding. We were joking with one another that we finally had our daughter married and could start retiring from now! =D =D =D

Talking about our new friend - the groom. We heard their story of knowing one another: It has been a very touching journey indeed. They might not want to share in front of everyone, but their sweetness is on their face for the whole day. He is specially welcomed by the family in Vancouver =) Such a deep sense of joy as they started calling each other 'husband' and 'wife'! I'm sure that he is going to share the special times in town with his newly wed wife for the next little while... =D (He is a man with true faith! He shows genuineness from the games this morning!! Pretty good stuff!!!)

All the best to them on their journey =) I really hope that they can get to celebrate a bit more as they will hold the larger banquet in Hong Kong during Christmas! May my husband and I keep continuing in praying for them, Amen.
