Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Blessed be to God for the unforgettable experience in WCCCLC!!
Attending this annual Catholic living camp has been an important part of my university life beginning from the year of Jubliee. The work of Holy Spirit began to sparkle and change me in deeper ways as I said "Yes" to God for attending the first year and helping out in choir and piano-playing.
From my own experience, Praise-and-Worship and Taize prayer sessions are the highlights of the camp, because not that I only listen to the inspiring talks that various speakers give, but being able to dialogue with God in a two-way path as He sends Holy Spirit to lead and guide thru the community prayers and resonate the spiritual ambiance that exists within the camp and the hearts of everyone.
Also, I think that the unique characteristic of this camp is the channel to dig into the heritage roots of Chinese culture. Being exposed to poems, writings, songs written in Chinese, I am able to take back home what I learnt and grow with my parents in terms of our faith and culture, that flourish with joy in our hearts. By sharing a common camping experience in WCCCLC, we are lightened in the fires of God's love that we bring peace and share it with others in cellgroups, prayer groups, and church groups that we belong to. Taking the piece to build up the family and the church locally. Also, taking that building piece to empower families and churches from afar with which we share relationships, because God's love has already conquered the physical and cultural boundaries, as well as human weaknesses as we steadfastly believe and offer them up to God.
Being a travellor and a music-lover, WCCCLC has impacted me in a deeper journey with God, as well as with my community of friends (those who share laughters and bears my weaknesses, fear and anxiety, as a young adult), through rain and shine. There's nothing that can separate us apart, because we are together companions and God is the Father, Healer, and Teacher. It's from God's blessings that no matter how many times I stripped and fell, there has always been a voice in the heart to encourage and move on -- in a touching way, the infinite source ever to grow, remain, and act in virtues of faith, hope, and love. Despite of being a witness to heartbroken separations, human sicknesses and death, with the support and care from my dear friends that I'm able to remain in love with God as a child and make his gospel as a reality that counter-defeats what appears to be true in front of me, but in fact it's only a superficial fad or trickery in the world that I inhabit.
"Playing a piano or singing is a way to make sounds or noises. With the love in God that the music coming from the instruments and human voices become a true beauty to human nature and divinity."
I pray that more youngsters will come to the experience with God in an ever-changing way in WCCCLC. May the Holy Spirit continue to thrive in the hearts of many WCCCLCers and bear fruits through hard labor of faith and ministries that each of us have made to this community of God's love and bonding! Amen.
Blessings,
Patricia
